It is well said that education starts at home.  At the same time such education starts with the children sharing their problems with their parents. Things go wrong only when the children stop sharing their problem with their parents. Such situation does occur despite the will and intention on both sides for sharing the problems.

There could be many reasons for such situations arising.  For instance if the children get nothing but irrelevant things from their parents they will never like to share their problems.  This happen when the response is irrelevant, inappropriate and only responses and instructions come up form them instead of fully appreciating the problem of their children.

Considering practical cases would be relevant.  More often than not children do not fare well in their studies or at least they do not come up muster in the examining eyes of their parents.  On the other hand the children may have some genuine problems that are not enabling them to get the desired results. Instead of appreciating the problems, solving them and coming out to the aid and assistance of the children the parents come up with advices and often scornful comments.  This does not help solving the problem of the children and do not augur well for their educative prospects.

Bottom line of it is that for promotion of education of the children, disempowering response from the parents would be most discouraging.  They will be counterproductive and result in discouraging the education of the children.
