Achalasia is a general disorder of nerves and muscles in esophagus of human beings which reduces the ability of internal muscles to move the food down to stomach. The sphincter in lower part of the food pipe becomes unable to relax while the food is swallowed. As a result, the patient faces multiple problems in swallowing food and water.

Symptoms of the disease includes regurgitation of the food in stomach, acidity and heartburn, dysphasia, pain in chest which gradually increases after eating the meal and spreads in the neck, back and arms.
